On Some Fourth Order Elliptic Boundary Value Problems

The method of defining a function on the solution of a differential equation and deriving results about the solution of the equation by means of the auxillary function is a well-known. Many mathematicians have used this method to obtain various kinds of results for the secnd and fourth order partial diferential equations. In [1] Payne used this idea and obtaind some maximum principles from the ...

Fast Point Multiplication on Elliptic Curves of Even Order

Every elliptic curve of even order over a finite field of characteristic > 3 is birationally equivalent to a curve in the Jacobi quartic form. In this paper, new explicit formulae for group operations on a Jacobi quartic curve are presented. The algorithm for doubling uses only 1M +6S, for the mixed-addition uses only 8M + 2S and the unified addition formula only 9M + 2S to the best case. For e...

Two weak solutions for some singular fourth order elliptic problems

In this paper, we establish the existence of at least two distinct weak solutions for some singular elliptic problems involving a p-biharmonic operator, subject to Navier boundary conditions in a smooth bounded domain in RN . A critical point result for differentiable functionals is exploited, in order to prove that the problem admits at least two distinct nontrivial weak solutions.

Some Remarks on Some Second-order Elliptic Differential Equations

We are concerned with the almost automorphic solutions to the second-order elliptic differential equations of type ü(s) + 2Bu̇(s) + Au(s) = f(s) (∗), where A, B are densely defined closed linear operators acting in a Hilbert space H and f : R 7→ H is a vector-valued almost automorphic function. Using invariant subspaces, it will be shown that under appropriate assumptions; every solution to (∗) ...

Homework Problems Some Even with Solutions

To say that n is the rank of Q is to assert that Q : An → A. So suppose that n and m are natural numbers and Q has rank m as well as rank n. We need to prove that n = m. It follows that An = Am since both An and Am turn out to be the domain of Q. Now in general AX is the set of all functions from X into A. Recalling that n = {0, 1, . . . , n−1} and m = {0, 1, . . . ,m−1} we can understand more ...
